As another summer tour season comes to a close, we're left to take a breath and reflect on our accomplishments. We are incredibly thankful for all those who have supported and visited the Kewaunee Pierhead Lighthouse this season! We had an absolutely wonderful summer and we want to share the success with you. With your continued support, we can make 2026 even better!
Here are some of our accomplishments and statistics for the 2025 tour season:
12 new volunteers trained
10 new interpretive posters added to the lighthouse this spring
5 public tour dates in which we welcomed more than 425 adults and 80 children through the lighthouse and took in $2,500 in donations plus sold $450 in miscellaneous merchandise
4 groups, totaling 82 guests from UWGB's Lifelong Learning Institute who gave a total of $1,160 in tour donations to the lighthouse and $170 to the Tug.
12 guests attended Fog Signal Demonstrations and 22 guests attended our 1st ever public Harbor Walking Tours in June, earning us a total of $500 for the lighthouse and $110 for the tug.
A coach bus of 28 visitors from the Milwaukee area who each paid $25 for a Walking Tour of the harbor, including the Fire Museum, Tug, and Lighthouse ($5 each goes to Tug)
8 commemorative paver bricks sold, earning us $2,400. Brick orders for the 2025 batch will continue to be accepted until sometime in March when our batch is engraved. If you'd like your own brick(s), now is a great time to order!
2 appearances (6 total segments) on local TV news morning shows and 1 appearance on a video travel blog
2 of the 4 final foundation projects completed at a cost of $5,900
A new donation box installed at the base of the pier to collect cash donations for the lighthouse. So far it has collected $187.
$5,357 in miscellaneous donations
Volunteers with the Green Bay Mike & Key Club (Amateur Radio group) joined us in the radio room on each of our tour days. They made radio contacts with other operators across the continent, explained the use of radio in lighthouses, and showed visitors how ships used our radio signal to navigate their way along the lake. When they weren't talking to visitors, they made a total of 68 radio contacts with 4 of those contacts being overseas!
Again, we would like to extend a massive "THANK YOU" to those of you who have visited, donated, or even shared our posts. We are doing important work to save this iconic little lighthouse, and every dollar and share goes toward that purpose.
